Our Story 〰️
Inspired by the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) creation story of Sky Woman from Canada’s First Nations, and by Earth Mother archetypes like Gaia and Demeter, Skywoman Earthwoman was born from a desire to bridge worlds: the ancient and the modern, the sky and the soil, the spiritual and the earthly.
This vision is shaped not only by myth, but by lived experience. Skywoman Earthwoman grows from the need to find balance in our lives and within ourselves. For a time, my life moved constantly between sky and earth – through travel and a brief chapter working in aviation – and also between the “skyworld” of holistic practices and the everyday grounding of the “earthworld”. Through this, I learned how essential it is to be both elevated and rooted.
After seasons of feeling disconnected from my own body’s whispers, the journey back into listening, anchoring and attuning to nature’s rhythm became the backbone of this work.
Skywoman Earthwoman was created to honour this balance: the ability to rise into intuition, imagination and spirit while staying connected to the body, the land and the wisdom of the Earth.
Its seeds were planted in the belief that storytelling is medicine. Through documentary film, photography and writing, Skywoman Earthwoman explores ancient and holistic practices from around the world, and the ways they bring us back into harmony with nature – and with the nature that lives within us. Stories are shared through an ethical, anthropological, ethnographic, artistic and spiritual lens, offered to anyone seeking balance in a world that often pulls us in many directions.
Alongside storytelling, Skywoman Earthwoman offers pathways of healing inspired by yoga, meditation, Reiki, transpersonal psychology, herbalism and the healing arts, including art therapy and healing portraiture. They are shaped by global travel and by rituals, earth‑based practices and ancestral knowledge encountered around the world. Each pathway invites a return to wholeness, a reawakening of the body’s innate intelligence and a reconnection with the wisdom of the Earth herself.
May this work remind you to return to the cyclical ways of nature: to listen, to look, to remember.
To become skywoman and earthwoman – and to meet the waterwoman and firewoman within you.
About the Founder: Yasmine in the Jungle
Hello reader,
I’m Yasmine in the Jungle, the founder and creative force behind Skywoman Earthwoman – a space for storytelling, creativity, learning, adventure and healing. I am a documentary filmmaker, creative director, photographer, writer and holistic practitioner whose work blends travel, anthropology, transpersonal psychology and earth‑based wisdom. I create stories and healing experiences that help others find balance between the spiritual and the grounded, between sky and earth.
Of Egyptian heritage, raised between Cyprus and Switzerland, I carry a mosaic of cultures, languages and landscapes. I’ve lived in London, Montreal and Dubai, and travelled widely – from Rio de Janeiro to Kyoto, Johannesburg to Singapore – gathering stories and pockets of wisdom along the way. Each place has deepened my sense of what it means to belong to the Earth, and to the sky.
My professional path in film and photography has led me to work in the camera and production departments on creative projects with companies such as Netflix, HBO, Disney+, Apple TV, Warner Bros, Amazon, Channel 4, Dazed, the United Nations and Vogue, as well as brands like Moncler, Birkenstock, Levi’s, Nike, Adidas and The Dorchester. I’ve also collaborated with conscious brands such as Daughters of India and photographed sacred ceremonies such as La Cerrada (Closing of the Bones) alongside doula Daia Brunetto – work that honours the feminine, ritual and the body as sacred terrain.
I hold a BA in Fine Art & Art History (Newcastle University), a BA in Journalism, Film & Photography (Concordia University) and an MA in Ethnographic Documentary Film (University College London), along with further studies in Transpersonal Psychology (Oxford University). My research has explored gender, kinship, race, spirituality and identity, especially through ceremony and ritual.
Fluent in English, Arabic, Greek, Portuguese and Spanish – and conversational in Italian, French and German, with beginner’s Japanese – I experience language as a bridge that carries stories, songs and ancestral wisdom.
My healing path is rooted in both study and lived experience. I am trained in Usui and Angelic Reiki, Yin Yoga and the Energetic Body, Sound Healing and have studied Spiritual Ecology, Channeling, Ayurveda, Sacred Sites and Ancestral Healing. I am also a student of Herbalism, deepening my relationship with the medicinal properties of the natural world and the body’s capacity to heal. My journey has been shaped by hands‑on experience in yoga and wellness communities across Europe – from retreats in Spain to spaces in London such as Indaba, Bodyism and Repose, and through supporting Datu in Italy.
I am endlessly inspired by women, land, indigenous knowledge, ritual and the natural world. You’ll often find me dancing barefoot in nature, speaking with trees, oceans and stars, on a yoga mat, or tucked away in a quiet bookshop, surrounded by stories.
all the love,
Yasmine
